Easter Chawan with a Rabbit, limited batch of 50 bowls (will not be repeated)

Originally planned for a New Year release, the collection was delayed due to repeated power outages in Ukraine. The bowls were shaped, glazed, and fired whenever electricity allowed, mainly at night.

Their form follows a warikodai-gata shape, traditionally associated with winter chawans. Thick walls help keep tea warm, encouraging slower, quieter moments.

On the bottom, a small blue rabbit appears - its ears shaped like bamboo leaves, a winter motif in Japanese culture and a symbol of luck, resilience, and forward motion.

The bowls in this limited batch are made in Ukraine in collaboration with ceramic artist Olena. During the final week of work on the collection, Olenka’s entire daily rhythm flipped: she glazed and fired the chawans at night in the studio, then went home to sleep during the day. Between the curfew and the fact that daytime electricity was available for only a couple of hours, there was no other way.

Against all odds, Olenka has created a rare and special batch of chawan—each one charged with resilience, inspiration for motion, and a touch of luck.

About the artist

Olena is a true legend combining an extremely unique and creative technique for ceramic and absolute talent for drawing, giving each single product a true unique feel and touch. Resilience, sharp humour and gentle inner talent - that what drawn us to this collaboration with her.

“The hardest part of all was catching the electricity for firing. Olena had to stay on duty next to the kiln, splitting firings into two stages because the windows between outages were too short for a full cycle.”
